Here is an extensive, painstakingly researched biography.
Eric Clapton was born and raised in Ripley, a sleepy village in
mid-Surrey. Brought up by his grandmother Rose, who purchased his first guitar
for him when he was 14, he grew up to become a legendary guitarist, and to be
frequently referred to as EC, not least in this web site.

Many of you will have heard that EC intended to retire after his last world tour. He was even about to give up his favourite hobby, fishing, because he couldn't figure out what to use as bait.
